18 months and counting!
May 18, 2009 on 12:25 pm | In Checkups, Milestones | Comments OffTyler is 1 1/2 years old. How time goes by so quickly. However, what a blessing it is to have a healthy growing little boy in the family. We went to the doctor today for his checkup. He had to get three vaccination boosters- tetanus, polio and Hepatitis A. He has had all of these before and is finished with them until he is at least 4 years old. Now the for the growth over the past six months:
Weight: 28lbs (77%)
Height: 34in (93%)
Head circumference: 19 (64%)
To celebrate this milestone we went to Zoo Atlanta on Saturday. This was Tyler’s first visit to the zoo. I would say that he enjoyed seeing all the animals in person that we have read about so many times in his books. Here are a few pictures from our visit to the zoo.

9 month checkup
August 26, 2008 on 12:31 pm | In Checkups | Comments OffToday Tyler went for his 9 month checkup. He is doing GREAT!
Weight: 21lbs 7.5oz
Height: 30in
This puts his weight in the 60ish percentile and his height in the 90ish percentile. They didn’t write down the specific percentile for me so I am just going by my memory. He also had his finger pricked to do an iron test, that came back good- meaning he is not anemic. He had his third and final HepB shot, and then we went over to the lab next door and had some blood drawn to test for Celiac Disease. This is an allergy to wheat gluten which runs on Tyler’s paternal side of the family. We should know what the outcome of that test is next week.
So Tyler is doing all the things he should be doing for his age: picking things up and placing them down and then picking them back up again, responding to his name, feeding himself little foods and with some help he uses a spoon, crawling, pulling up, and babbling (not distinguishable words yet, but we know it will be any day now). Tyler seems to be a happy little boy- he laughs often and loves to be with his little blanket.
They told me to call back in early September to schedule a flu shot for him and then we will see them in November for his 1 year checkup. Time has FLOWN BY.
We are having a blast with him. So I guess on to walking and talking. Stay tuned. Hopefully new videos will come soon.
Six Months Old
May 23, 2008 on 6:10 am | In Checkups | Comments OffHere is the usual monthly picture on the arm of the recliner.
Tyler’s New measurements according to his Pediatrician appointment yesterday are:
Weight: 19lb 5.5oz (77 percentile)
Height: 27 1/2 ins (81 percentile)
Head circumference: 17 1/2 cm (67 percentile)
Tyler is doing great. He has had his front two bottom teeth poke through his gum in the last three weeks. He actually did very well with it. He was a little bit more fussy but nothing unmanageable. He is picking up everything in reach and laughing quiet often. The funniest thing to me in the last week is that he has started to laugh at Toby. For those of you that know Toby, aka circus dog, he does lots of tricks and Tyler thinks it is very funny to see him do them. He really likes “speak” and “play dead”.
A few other goings on with the family and Tyler include:
We were able to buy a jogging stroller in early April off of Craig’s List. If you have never used this service you really should it was great for us. We got a really good stroller for an excellent price and it had very few uses before we bought it. We have been jogging with him a couple times a week and at the end of April we ran our first 5k road race with him. Tyler did great, he started cheering every one on about mile 2 1/2.
Since Tyler can sit up now he can take baths like a big boy. We still have a hand on him at all times but he is doing well. He likes to splash and play with his bath toys.
Our first Mother’s Day was great. We had his Baby Dedication at church that day. We had both sets of Grandparents and Tia Amanda and Tim over for the occasion. Here is Tyler playing with his two Grandmas.
Tyler has also wanted to pet Billy. Even though Tyler often grabs and pulls Billy hair, Billy still comes back for more. Billy loves a good head rub.
We made a trip up to see Jamie’s parents and Tyler was able to play with his two cousins. Although Keighley and Connor just wanted to touch and get right up in Tyler’s face the whole time. But it was a pretty good visit. Here are a couple of pictures.

Tyler was talking to Keighley, but she said she didn’t understand what he was saying either ![]()
4 month check-up
March 25, 2008 on 1:26 pm | In Checkups | Comments OffTyler went today for his 4 month checkup and vaccinations. He received the same vaccines that he received at 2 months. He cried a little bit more this time and actually bled a little bit. I didn’t see any blood last time- yet maybe the previous nurse was just quicker with the band-aid. Tyler is doing great, however they say he is the size of the average 6 month old. Speaking of which, he now:
weighs 16lbs 11.5oz (76 %)
is 26 1/2 inches (89%) tall
and his head circumference is 17 inches (68%).
Now that Tyler is over 14 lbs we have started feeding him solid foods. We started with some rice cereal last week. Tyler actually did pretty well, most of it went in his mouth and he swallowed it. However, we did capture this moment with the cereal on his lips, cheeks, and shirt. We now wear a bib while eating.
In a few days we will start giving him some veggies and see how he does with those. Tyler is definitely growing up, and quick. Keep checking back for updates.
2 month doctor appointment
January 25, 2008 on 1:21 pm | In Checkups | No CommentsToday Tyler went for his two month doctor visit. He was actually really good considering he had to get 4 shots and a oral vaccination. The vaccinations he received today were for rotavirus; pneumococcal; Hib; diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, and finally polio. Of course they checked him out and took new measurements:
Weight: 13lbs (72%)
Height: 24 1/2 in (87%)
Head Circumference: 15 3/4 (40%)
Therefore, he is growing. He gained 3.5lbs and 2 1/4 inches over the past month. All is going well. Here are a couple updated pictures of the past week. He met a new friend and Toby is getting more brave
5 weeks old!
December 21, 2007 on 5:54 pm | In Checkups | No CommentsTyler made his first visit back to the pediatrician since his initial visit after his birth. He is growing as expected.
His new stats are:
10.15 pounds (67 percentile)
22 1/4 inches long (61 percentile)
15 1/4 cm head circumference (51 percentile)
He didn’t really like his visit this time. Not only did he not like the LONG wait (45 minutes in the waiting room), he must get that from Grandma Easoz
but he also got a shot for Hepatitis B vaccine this time, he cried. By the time we got home- he was ready to eat.
Here is a picture of his first bandaid
Here is a picture of Mom and Tyler once he finished eating after his appointment!
All is well, we are learning each day Tyler’s ways and working on making him a happy baby, most of the time!
