Final Installed Aileron Servo; Installed ELT Antenna
Today I final installed the aileron servo into the fuselage. First I removed the entire contraption, installed the pins, then enlarged the holes and installed AN6 screws. I'm not sure where the leaf came from, but I didn't notice it until I looked at this picture.
Next I decided to knock out the ELT antenna installation. I struggled a bit with where to install it but in the end I put it in the common location behind the rollbar.
I installed a nutplate in the rollbar. The way I did it was drill/countersink/deburr (I used my brass-handled deburring tool to deburr the inside of the rollbar) the holes, then drop a string through the center screw hole. Pull the string out the bottom of the rollbar and run it through the screw hole in the nutplate and tie a big knot behind the nutplate (not TO) the nutplate. Pull the nutplate back up through the rollbar until it lines up with the holes. This may take a little while (took me about 3 minutes) to get the rivet holes in the rollbar to line up with the holes in the nutplate. Once they're lined up, cleco the nutplate into place and pull the string out of the rollbar. Then install the rivets. Easy once you figure out how to do it.
