Made Nosegear Slit in Lower Cowl
Today I continued working on the cowl. I made the slit in the lower cowl for the nose gear leg, then sort of taped everything up and then tried fitting the cowl halves on the fuselage. You can see a slight gap there, but I'm not worried about it yet. Everything is still so out of whack that there's no telling how it's going to look when it's done.
I'm not quite sure of the procedure to get this thing trimmed. I suppose I will do the following:
Cut, drill and cleco camlock receptacle strips to the firewall.
Align the bottom cowl, tape everything into position and then trim.
Drill and cleco undersized holes to the mounting strips
Drill the hinges to the top edge of the lower cowl.
Fit and trim the upper cowl (back and sides) to match the lower cowl
Drill the hinges to the upper cowl
Drill the cowl to the mounting strips
Install camlocks in undersized holes
