Oshkosh 2006 Day 2
I was invited to stay in a house with RV-8A builder Steve Ashby. This is the view from the front window of the house. Yes, that's the North 40 over there. This house is awesome and Steve rents it every year. Yes, I already have dibs for next year.
This was neat -- it's a P-51 replica called a T-51. The only costmetic issue I could find is that the prop is not in scale and too small.
And here are the real deals. Beautiful. In all I counted about 9 or 10 that were there.
Interesting paint markings there on the canopy to indicate the number of Nazi's shot down. Most P-51's still around were the trainer models with two seats so they never saw action. It's interesting to note that those emblems would most likely be illegal in some European countries.
This Blue Angel FA-18 is carrying Harrison Ford in the rear seat. From the overhead break this guy made is seems like he didn't take it easy on Ford.
Here's a blown up picture I took of Harrison Ford after his flight. It's a little out of proportion because of the zooming and cropping I had to do. Anyway..you get the idea.
