More Primary Canopy Latch Work
Continuing with the primary canopy latch...I got the latch torque tube installed. You can see that the fingers of the tube extend into slots on the bulkhead. The canopy frame extends down through a hole in the gusset and gets trapped by the fingers. The lower part of the torque tube goes unused (I assume for a pilot-on-right setup).
Here's the left side, along with the brackets (these are the same part #'s that hold the elevators on). There will be a pushrod-type tube that will run from the latch handle to the bracket...a very simple and elegant setup. The blue painters' tape is there to prevent the bucking bar/wrenches from marring the paint.
You can see here that the two attach strips have an s-shape and a twist in them. Pretty obvious what to do here once you get a look at it.
