Finished Painting Interior
Well, after a terrible attempt at painting the interior yesterday, today I got serious. After work today I stopped by the store and bought some fine grit sandpaper (400 and 600 grit) and sanded out all the runs in the paint. Unfortunately, in a couple of places I ended up having to sand all the way down to the aluminum to get it smooth, which meant I had to spray another coat of paint. I drove over to home depot and purchaed an HVLP gun that others have used and recommended. What a difference! The new gun worked awesome! Wish I would have just bit the bullet and bought it to begin with. It worked out so much better.
Here you can see that I did not paint my floor, just left it primed. The reason? Well, I'm covering it with carpet so I can see no reason to paint it. I also didn't paint the firewall since a) all the aluminum angles are primed, b) it's stainless steel (no corrosion), and c) I'm most likely going to cover it with firewall insulation.
Here's a shot of the passenger's armrest...
And the seat back bulkhead...
Hmm...you get the idea...
And here are some assorted parts that I painted. Nope, I won't win any awards...but that's not the point of my building.
Hey...I still need to paint a couple of interior components but for now I can say that the painting is done! Hey....that means that the fuselage kit is techinically done...at least I'm out of instructions. ;-)
