Still Fighting Weldments
Today I got home and mowed the lawn (yipee). Seems like the world is conspiring against me to finish these darn weldments.
Anyway...I got the new right weldment into place to my satisfaction.
Here's a trick I found to getting the weldment flush against the center section spar web. I put this bolt in. This thing will get close tolerance bolts...but a regular AN4 will work here.
Then I put a nut on there and torqued it down...the weldment settled down against the web with no problem. You can see here that it is pretty darn flush now. This side is ready to get drilled.
I went over the left side and tried the same thing...thinking it would be a quick and simple thing to do. But yep...you guessed it....the darn holes across the top of the weldment are lining up but not the wing spar bolts. Hmmm...
The plans say that it is acceptable to file out some of those holes if they don't line up...but we'll see tomorrow. My goal tomorrow is to get both of these things drilled and possibly installed for good.
