Mulling Interior Priming/Painting Cabin Parts
Today I went out and alumiprepped the longerons and doubler plates. Then it happened...the primer started getting the best of me.
If you've built or are building an RV, you know what I'm talking about...the primer mental war. The problem I'm having here is that I'm not sure how I'm going to prime the cabin components. My thought was that I would use my self-etching primer, then some sort of paint on top of that. Well, I brought down my old horizontal stab skin that I ruined and used it to see if I could lay the primer and paint down well on a large area. Well, let's just say it SUCKED. So this experiment threw off my entire priming plan for the day. My evening basically consisted of standing in the garage mulling what I'm going to do. Oh well...I'm going to look at some pictures of interiors tonight and maybe I can figure out what to do. Basically, the problem is that I don't really see a need to paint the entire interior if I'm just going to cover it with upholstry...I would rather prime it with my good AKZO epoxy and haven it over with now. I hate primer.
