Fuselage Kit Arrived!!
This morning the fuselage kit arrived. It was scheduled for 10:00 to 12:00, and the truck pulled up at exactly 11:00! Here's the truck backing up the driveway. He then drove it back down the driveway because he decided that he wouldn't be able to pull the crate 'up' to the end of the truck (due to the slope of the driveway).
Here are the two fuselage crates. I believe that the -7 has only one box and the -7A has the additional smaller box.
Here's what you see as soon as you take the tops off the crate. Oh yeah...by the way...the lids on these crates were stapled AND glued on. My wing kit was only stapled on...and the big wing box was partially open 'cause the guy at the shipping company turned it on it's side. There was NO way this thing was going to come open!
And here's the side skins of the fuselage! It's Christmas in March around here!!!
And here are the contents of the smaller crate. You see the gear leg weldments, the main gear and and a mondo bag of hardware. I'm gonna need another one of those plastic drawer things...I believe.
And here's a big roll of skins that come out of the big crate.
Unfortunately, this week has been crazy. We have an orchestra performance the week of Easter and we're ramping up to that with many rehearsals in the evenings, so my time has been recently cut short. I don't have anything going on tomorrow evening so I'm hoping to get to work early so I can jet out of there and get home and work some more on the flaps. I'm dedicated to calling the wings done this weekend! And I mean it this time!
There was a recent thread on the vansairforce.net website from a guy who got discouraged looking at all there is to do in the fuselage. I'm not discouraged....I'm SUPER MOTIVATED! The end is now in site (although it's still forever away).
