Drilled Wing Walk Doublers, Started Fitting Skins
Today I went out to the garage with the hope of drilling all the main skins....hmmm....yeah right.
sidenote: Oh yeah, notice the two different colors of vinyl protection on the skins. I've never seen this before from other builders. The inner top and bottom skins are THICK. I'm not sure exactly what size they are because the white vinyl on them is opaque and you can't read the markings on the aluminum.
Anyway, I clecoed on the top skins to the right wing.
Yeah, I forgot to take a picture of this, but the first thing I did today was to drill the wing walk area doublers to the top inboard skins.
Then I hit a small roadblock. You see here that the skins overhang the outboard most rib by a good bit so I'll have to notch out this piece of angle on the 'top' and 'bottom' of the wings to be able to get the skins on. I also need to order some more clecos.
Here's the left inboard top skin clecoed on.
And the bottom inboard skins...
I need to run to the store tomorrow and get a cut-off wheel for my die grinder. I've somehow managed without it so far, but no longer. I'll use it to notch the wing jig to be able to get the outboard skins on.
